RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- A Bethlehem man has begun a sit-in outside of the office of the illegitimate premier of the Palestinian government in Ramallah Salam Fayyad demanding cost of fitting an electronic hand that would replace his own that was lost after being hit by Israeli forces.
The man Yassin Rashid Odeh was one of the wanted Aqsa Martyrs Brigade fighters. He was injured in a clash with Israeli occupation forces and later jailed for years.
He has said that he will not leave until the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah agrees to pay $25,000, the cost of the operation that would replace his hand.
Odeh pointed out that his demands were only for a new hand, and he was not demanding a monthly salary or that he is given back his job. He said that is what he needs to ”relax psychologically” and not to be a burden to his family, as his mother ties his shoes for him daily.
Odeh brought as much supplies as possible in order to stay in front of Fayyad's office for as long as possible. He said he had already addressed institutions, ministries, and officials, but without success.
The man was injured in an operation targeting the IOF soldiers in 2001 before his hand was severed. He was injured in several other parts of his body as well and arrested after a long manhunt. The IOF also destroyed his home.
